| Why study Wado-Ryu: |
I started karate at the age of 17, training at the Stroud Wado-Ryu club with
Sensei Nick Quilliam. I reached the grade of 3rd kyu and enjoyed the fitness side of the training so I joined the Gloucester Athletic Club, competing in several full
marathons In 1980 I joined the Roxborough House boxing club, Stroud, and boxed as a novice for three years, being picked to box for Western Counties.
However this only fed my appetite to learn more about karate.
The techniques of avoidance and tai-sabaki as taught in Wado-Ryu karate are to me very realistic. Real combat situations are always fought
at close quarters. Karate is a hard but immensely enjoyable, never ending road ,and to me a way of life.
It is a privilege to have the instruction of the Worlds finest senseis.

| Most important benefit from WKA: |
Good mental discipline and physical fitness. Being part of the Wado Academy is highly rewarding as I see it as the association of excellence.
Its great to meet up regularly with a group of friends ,all with a common goal. |
