Ohtsuka Sensei II Group PhotoThe Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy, Millennium Championships took place on Saturday 4th March 2000, at Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex Surrey England. The championships were an International event to celebrate the first 10 years of the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy. The event was open to all member association/countries affiliated to the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy. The competition was presided over by Ohtsuka Sensei II, Second Grand Master of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do (pictured second left), and Sensei Shiomitsu, founder and chief instructor of the Wado-Ryu Karate-Do Academy (pictured third left).

Competitors from thirteen different countries (Canada, England, France, Germany, Guyana, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Switzerland and Venezuela) competed in this prestigious Championships. In addition to enjoying exciting competition, both competitors and spectators were treated to a demonstration of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do style and technique by Ohtsuka Sensei II. The Second Grand Master of Wado-Ryu Karate-Do, assisted by Sugasawa Sensei (pictured right), gave an excellent demonstration of Kihon Gumite Goshin ho and Tanto tori. Ohtsuka Sensei also presented Shiomitsu Sensei with a plaque in recognition of his continuous work in speeding and helping to improve standards of Wado-ryu Karate around the world.
